“Real Estate Oscars” in Georgia

A new page has been added to the 30-year history of the FIABCI Prix d’Excellence international awards. On 28 October, FIABCI-Georgia and the real estate investment hub Property Georgia co-organised the first national awards ceremony for real estate projects – the FIABCI-Georgia Prix d’Excellence Awards 2022. The event was hosted by Pullman Axis Towers Hotel in Tbilisi with the support of Bank of Georgia, Galt&Taggart and Digital Area. Partner organisations also included Colliers Georgia, Expo Georgia and the Georgian National Association of Real Estate (GNARE).

The national winners were selected by a jury panel composed of local members and leading industry experts from different countries. The winners will take part at the FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards.

“Winning at the national level will allow Georgian developers to present their projects to the whole world. They will become known outside Georgia, which I believe is an important factor that would not be possible without FIABCI membership. This is a great advantage,” said FIABCI World President Susan Greenfield, who visited Tbilisi to attend the first national real estate awards ceremony.

“Bank of Georgia continues to support the real estate industry. We are delighted to be the general partner of an event such as the first national real estate awards – FIABCI-Georgia Prix d’Excellence, which has been organised by FIABCI-Georgia. The aim of this large international event is to position Georgia on the global map as a place for real estate, tourism and hotel business. During the awards ceremony, foreign investors familiarised themselves the Georgian real estate market and learned about our country’s true potential. That is why this project is so important for us and our country: it raises awareness about Georgia and provide even more incentive for the real estate sector to implement new projects,” said the Head of SME Business at Bank of Georgia Zurab Masurashvili.

“We are happy to be given the opportunity to support the first national real estate awards – FIABCI-Georgia Prix d’Excellence,” stated the CEO of the development firm White Square Shorena Darchiashvili.

White Square is a flexible customer-oriented brand supported by 12 years of managerial experience.

“This is the first edition of the Prix d’ Excellence Awards in Georgia. At White Square, we aim to support all initiatives that help develop the real estate sector in our country. Therefore, we immediately joined this undertaking by FIABCI Georgia. I would like to thank them for this opportunity,” Ms Darchiashvili added.

The awards ceremony was opened on 28 October with the international conference “Building Green, Smart and Liveable Cities,” which was attended by industry experts from United States, Europe, Asia and UAE.

According to the organisers, FIABCI-Georgia aims to use these events to position Georgia on the international map as a country for development of high-quality projects of the future.

“It is important to see a Georgian chapter being added to the 30 year-long story of the FIABCI Prix d’Excellence Awards. We are delighted that our loyal partners at Bank of Georgia are supporting us once again. Our aim is to identify sustainable and resilient projects, as well as individuals who are making the effort to reduce the ecological footprint of the developed environment. It is an honour to have FIABCI World President Susan Greenfield open the first national real estate awards ceremony. She arrived from United States especially for this purpose,” President of FIABCI-Georgia Lika Kardava stated.

Ms Kardava thanked the sponsors of the 4th international conference “Building Green, Smart and Liveable Cities” – Villa Residence (general sponsor), Lisi Development, Alliance Group, King’s Garden, York Towers, Reform and BDO, as well as the Polish Investment and Trade Agency and the Embassy of Poland in Georgia, who supported the event. “Guests from different countries spoke at the conference about the latest construction trends, which is very important for the further development of our cities,” Ms Kardava explained.

According to the general sponsor of the conference Villa Residence, the event helped the development sector establish closer ties and deeper relations both with local and international market representatives:

“We were given the opportunity to better acquaint the audience with information about both the completed and ongoing projects and future plans. For us as a development company, participation in international events, establishing contacts with representatives and raising awareness about eco-friendly construction are the most important factors,” Villa Residence director Aleksandre Namoradze stated. According to him, the city desperately needs more green construction projects: “The problem of a lack of such projects in the market is real. In order to create a healthy housing environment for the citizens, it is necessary to maintain green cover and develop recreational areas. Architecture that focusses on healthy living and infrastructure aims to improve urban infrastructure and life in general. There is no alternative to a place where people will find clean air, few buildings and the possibility of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The driving force of Villa Residence is the happy tenant whose everyday life is spent in a green, healthy environment that also encourages an active lifestyle.”

The events held on 28 October brought together leading industry players from more than 20 countries around the world. This was a unique platform for exploring business opportunities, networking and learning.

propertygeorgia.ge“By 2050, more than 70% of the world’s population will be living in cities, which will have a direct negative effect on the climate. Therefore, international conferences and real estate awards of this kind are equally important for everyone – this is our environment, and we must take care of it,” former President and current Executive Director of FIABCI-Georgia Keti Tabatadze stated.

According to the next President of FIABCI-Georgia Nutsa Abramishvili, the FIABCI-Georgia Prix d’Excellence Awards will significantly raise the awareness about Georgian real estate on the international investment markets: “This is an exemplary and motivational event both for large developers and startuppers who are looking for potential investors and partners across borders.” Ms Abramishvili adds that the first successful awards ceremony will further emphasise Georgia’s regional role as an attractive location for foreign direct investment in real estate. “We must also highlight our country’s business environment that has little bureaucracy, a liberal tax system, an interesting investment environment, attractiveness as a regional hub, and a visa-free regime with around 100 countries across the world. If we add to this the safe investment and living conditions, we can definitely say that our country is one of the best choices for investors.”
